Tomato Basil Soup


Tomato Basil Soup

2   28 oz cans of crushed tomatoes

1   14 oz can chicken broth

1 cup whipping cream

½  C. butter

2 tsp. sugar

18 fresh basil leaves minced

1 tsp. Garlic powder

Salt and pepper to taste

I pureed a can of the crushed tomatoes to make it less lumpy.

I also added more garlic powder than above because I like it that way.

The basil leaves I bought in a plastic container in the produce section and I didn’t count them, so I doubt there were 18!

You can use half and half, or milk for the cream if desired.
